Palm Springs Weekend ...

Good Monday! Did you have a good weekend? We took a weekend trek to Palm Springs last Friday for a few days and had the best time. Although I probably could've done with one more day. Always the case, right? Tried to catch P doing her cannonball but I kept capturing it too late. You get the gist of the fun here, don't you? She was pretty keen on wearing her swim cap and goggles the whole time, as inspired by the swim trials. Are you as excited about the Olympics as we are?

This was taken at about 7am when it was already 80ยบ out! I miss it already. Luckily PS is only a couple of magical hours away. Wishing everyone a fantastic week ahead!

Aaand I'm Back ...

L: The fam going to breakfast early morning. R: The Spanish style, poolside casitas.

I'm back! Got back yesterday after taking a long escape to La Quinta Resort & Club for the 4th of July weekend. I know what you're thinking ... yes, it's usually very hot this time of year but seeing as it was going to be gloomy and cold here on the coast we took a gamble that the desert would have lower temperatures and we were so right. We did lots of outdoor dining, swimming and lounging. I couldn't believe it, I actually got through three magazines while I was out there.Woo hoo!
My three year old pretending to blend in with the flowers.

The grounds of the resort are absolutely amazing. All Spanish style, the resort originated as a Hollywood hideaway in 1926 for stars like Greta Garbo, Ginger Rogers and Clark Gable. I told Eric that if we every had the opportunity to build our dream home I'm pretty sure I would come back here for inspiration–I'm in love with the Spanish style casitas with the red roof shingles and blue trim. But until then it's my new-to-me favorite place for a little R&R. I cannot wait to go back.

Palm Springs Weekend ...

Good morning! So last Friday I mentioned being where there was sunshine, lush, green, grass and a great pool ... well, here's where I was! We were in Palm Springs over the weekend and just got back yesterday. Every year my parents rent out a house for the whole family to hang out and enjoy before everyone's summer madness. How amazing is this backyard? This was our view every day and every time I'd walk out here I'd get such a calming feeling. It was like getting a warm hug from Mother nature:) My favorite part of the day was the early morning when I'd get my coffee and sit outside with the sun already glistening and warm. Ahhh, I miss you already Palm Springs.

Palm Springs Daydream ...

Palm Springs Daydream
You might've guessed from last Friday's post that I have Palm Springs on the brain. Well, it hasn't let up (especially since that groundhog saw his shadow this morning which means 6 more weeks of winter, dang it!) and I have now put together my idea of the quintessential PS poolside outfit and accessories. I had so much fun putting this together on Polyvore where I first discovered on the little things we do ... hope you like as these little outfits could become a regular thing here at Happenstance.

The Cielo Estate ...

I hope everyone has a great weekend! I leave you w/photos of one of my favorite homes in Palm Springs. We had the pleasure of being guests in this house a couple of springs ago and I just fell completely in love with the Spanish style and decor of the house. I kept taking mental snapshots in every room. A girl can dream ... have a good one everyone!

My favorite time of day is at dusk when it's still very warm outside.

The hallway is lined with these great shutters that lead out to the grassy front lawn.

Note the four post bed, black shutters and beamed ceiling. Loved all of it!

Yes, those arrangements were real. Beautiful, right?

And the pool. Complete with grass surrounding the blue of the pool. One of my favorite things in the world!
