You Just Never Know ...

This is about how long my hair was when I decided to donate it to Locks of Love. I remember going to the post office to send it off and the postal worker engaged me in light conversation about hair donation in which some people in line heard. So as I was leaving a woman came up to me, looked at me and said "thank you." After I realized I did not know her, I could see she was fighting cancer. So there I was busy being excited that I was going to help someone faraway without realizing that I would inadvertently also make someone else smile in my own backyard. I guess you just never know who you will affect and how many people you might affect. It felt really good.

Creatively Helping Haiti ...

File this under "great idea." I ran into this fun questionnaire over on the little things we do ... and this wonderful blog is donating .25 cents to the Red Cross to benefit Haiti for every person that answers these "Getting To Know You" questions and links it back here.

Obviously this isn't me, but I hope to have her vigor for life and style when I'm her age! Plus, I bet she still wears lacey bras:)

1. Hair color..Au naturale..or not?

No, but not far from the color truth. I did bleach my hair once when it was Twiggy short. That lasted all of one day!

2. If somebody has food in their teeth or lipstick on their teeth do you tell them?

Yes! I even told this girl in front of me at yoga that her stretch pants were completely see through every time she bent over. I don't know who was more annoyed me or her.

3. Would you rather have a million dollars or your vision of the perfect body?

I have to say the million dollars. With it I would focus on growing it so we can live comfortably, give to charities regularly and build a strong foundation for our kids' future.

4. Favorite magazine?

There are too many in various categories that would qualify. How 'bout if I tell you what I miss? Domino, Blueprint, and Cookie:(

5. Bra style..lacey or plain?

Now that I have my old body again (I've had two kids in the last 3 yrs.) I might start to go the way of the lacey bra again! Woo hoo!

6. If you walked into Victoria's Secret..would you most likely come out with something sexy or comfy?

See above ... which means I would go sexy!

7. Do you fake and bake?

You know, I never have. I might do it if I had a weird tan line and needed to wear a strapless dress or something. But otherwise, no.

8. What's your favorite body part on a man?

Definitely hands and this might sound strange, but the forearms too. They need to be masculine looking. Not Popeye masculine but "I can carry you without losing my breathe" masculine.

Paid It Forward Today ...

I paid it forward today at Starbucks. I've only ever done it at Starbucks since that is the only place I tend to find myself in a drive-thru. If you've never done it, I recommend it. It's the best feeling ever. Today it was two ladies behind me who were chatting about and looking to have a good time. So hopefully I added to their morning. One time I bought up to 5 drinks for the car behind me! But I figured he was probably buying for the office and what great water cooler conversation it would make.

Feels good.

High Fives ...

Since this is the month of thanks I wanted to take a minute to virtual high five all of the firefighters out there. A few months ago we were driving along the freeway and off to the side was a car engulfed in flames. You could see the firetruck approaching and all I could think was how we don’t even think twice about expecting those firefighters to jump right in there and put it out. Without more than a few seconds to assess the situation they just go for it. That’s crazy.

I took this photo at my brother’s station in LA a couple of months ago. I thought about this row of boots when I saw that car fire. You’ll notice their yellow turnout pants already draped over their boots with their red suspenders fastened. They are ready to be there for you at the drop of a hat, no questions asked. That is noble. Thanks Nick!

High five a firefighter this weekend!

Nixon Does Good & Cool ...

I’d say I consider Nixon one of my “comfort brands.” I’ve been a big fan of their clean, punchy marketing campaigns for quite a while. They definitely take the perception of watches to the next level. This month Nixon is launching The Pink Fluro Rubber Player (pictured above) to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness month. A portion of the proceeds from the Pink Fluro will go to benefit Boarding For Breast Cancer (B4BC). Buy one and you’ll kill 3 birds with 1 stone … 1. Support Breast Cancer Awareness, 2. Holiday gift anyone? 3. Feel good about it. P.S. love the message on the backside.
