What's Missing? ...

In the famous words of Janis Joplin, I must make amends–with Kristen Stewart. Finally! I really like her on this UK Elle, subscriber cover! She looks pretty and fresh. Of course I've always known she was pretty but honestly, the "I just got out of bed," look and the "do I have to be here?" scowl were starting to tap dance on my last nerve. Maybe she was playing into her Joan Jett role, but still.

Let's talk more about this cover. I noticed something huge missing which I don't think I've ever noticed on a magazine cover before. Can you guess what it is? She's not wearing a lick of jewelry! Isn't that strange for a major publication cover? I actually like it. But this is coming from a girl who hardly wears jewelry at all but for special occasions. What do you guys think?

Bicycle Built For Four? ...

This reminds me of the vintage Schwinn Eric got for me on eBay when we first got married. Haven't ridden it very much since life just seemed to be put on fast forward after that and suddenly we need a bike built for four. No joke, I've thought about getting a tandem and putting a baby bike seat on the front and a kids bike seat on the back end for the kiddies. Eric just looked at me with his "are you on crack?" eyes when I made this suggestion. I love him.

Anywho, if you find yourself w/a few minutes to spare this weekend you should do the Interactive Proust Questionnaire over at Vanity Fair. In the end, it'll tell you which celebrities your answers most resembled. Mine? Little Richard, Jackie Collins, and Martin Scorsese. Haven't decided what to think about this yet. What Should I Read Next? ...

Was reading the Nicola Beauman article in the new Vanity Fair and she recommended a great website called whatshouldireadnext.com. You type in a book title or author you love and the site will recommend others you might like. Brilliant!

Side Note:
I was a little thrown off by Tiger on the cover this month. You? Very curious about this choice. There was nothing inspirational, exciting or interesting about it. It just reminded you of how sad that situation is. It equates to the sound you hear when you lose on The Price Is Right.

Lonny Issue Two ...

Hooray! The new issue of Lonny is here. Thank you to M.A. Belle for the update! I’ve been checking my little heart out everyday lately to see if the new issue would load … and now it's here! Oh Natalie, Oh Lanvin! ...

At first I couldn't tell the length of the dress, but here you see it's long. Beautiful.

Big thanks to Coco+Kelley for pointing out the new Marie Claire cover (Jan. '10) with Natalie Portman! This photo is the perfect reminder of why I love fashion (and Natalie). The dress is from the Lanvin Spring '10 collection and I'm in love with it. The matte navy w/the perfect red punch of the flower is simple but makes just the right statement. And then you put someone like Natalie Portman in it and it's perfection. Her hair color too just ties in the gray background to it all, don't you think?

Did I mention I want this dress? I might actually need it :)

Pretty Newsstand ...

I absolutely love the sight of newsstands. So whenever I visit Belmont Shore, as I recently did, I love seeing this little outdoor newsstand/florist called “devynn’s garden.” It’s so cute and has so much character and charm. I like to think that if I lived there this is where I'd go each week to pick up my favorite flowers and magazines.

Funny Lady ...

I know I should’ve posted this earlier but I just remembered it’s Thursday (it happens) which means my fave show “30 Rock” is on tonight:)

Here’s a little homage to the hilarious, mom, wife, boss, actress, all around woman that is Tina Fey. This is a great article from her Vanity Fair issue earlier this year. And another from her more recent Harper’s Bazaar issue. Girl is still getting covers even 10 months after Vanity Fair … go Liz Lemon!

BTW … Tina is definitely one of my "If you could have lunch with a famous person who would it be?" choices.

I Heart Magazines ...

I wish Lonny magazine were in print! There, I said it. It’s not because I’m against digital platforms, it’s simply because I love it and wish I could just tear out all of my favorite pages (there are a lot) and tape them accordingly on various walls around my house. I know I can print them out, but it’s just not the same. What is somewhat the same is the awesome content which resembles that of my beloved Domino magazine. Which should come as no surprise since the two founders, Michelle Adams and Patrick Cline, hail from Domino. I have to admit though, if you’re gonna go to a digital platform for a publication Lonny did it right. The toolbar options across the top are pretty cool. You can choose which layout you wish to peruse in, you can do full screen or standard view and you can literally shop from the pages by rolling over any item and up pops the link where you can purchase. That is instant gratification at its finest. With 195 pages worth of things at your fingertips it’s definitely worth checking out again, again, and again.
