No Fuss Image ...

It seems odd for a beauty image, but I really, really like this new ad for M/Mink Eau de Parfum. It's so interesting because it's the antithesis of your average perfume advertisement. The model has a hat on (gasp!), no flowing, long hair or fluffy post-production flair. It's supposed to look like spilled ink and it's obvious that the image is of a girl–perhaps me or you? And that's it.

So as I read further about this new scent it was no surprise that this particular fragrance was created by two graphic artists. They projected an image first, then created this scent. Which apparently is the opposite of perfume industry standards. I think it's brilliant and it makes me want to check it out. Especially since I've been searching high and low for a new fragrance for too long now! For years it's been Burberry classic for me, which I loved but now that I've had kids my body chemistry just doesn't bode well with it anymore. Now I'm curiously hopeful that M/Mink is my answer.

Do you have any favorite scents? Would love to hear your suggestions ...

most perfumes turn a sickening overly sweet smell on me so i also have a hard time finding a great scent. i recently found a bottle of men's old spice aftershave and i've been using it as perfume. strange i know, but it's great... not too sweet or manly smelling & not too expensive.

So interesting! I love the backstory on it also!

And I wear Nina Ricci's Premier Jour. I've worn it since I was 18 and EVERYONE compliments me on it. It just fits perfectly with my body chemistry and so many men love it. Not overpowering or sweet. Just perfect. But I never thought about the whole kids thing. Oh my!

I love Amazing Grace by Philosophy. I also wear Versace (the one with the "diamond" as the cap?), but it's a bit sweet. I'm soooo picky about women's fragrances, but love most men's!

Crazy picture. You know me, traditional perfume is so toxic that I never touch it but there are some great natural scents if you hunt around.

I love this image. It's so unusual and obviously very effective advertising since we're all talking about it. Personally, I am a big fan of Kiehl's Original Musk. Especially for fall! But now I'm curious to check this out.

I typically don't wear perfume -- I seem to be too sensitive to smells and some stuff makes me itchy (weird, I know). And I love the ad. There's so much thought behind it that I'm curious to know what this one smells like.

this is so interesting! wow. never would have thought, but i do really love this ad. very curious about what it smells like!

and sigh, i have no help in the scent department. i can't afford any..so i've been relatively scent-less for years and years...maybe someday!

this fall i started wearing a blend of cb's burning leaves and under the arbor. most traditional perfumes give me a headache or are just too girly for me. in the summer i like kiehl's coriander as it blends easily with the body shop's coconut body butter, my favorite super rich lotion.
