Oscars Morning After ...

Actress Julie Christie at the Beverly Hills Hotel the morning after winning her Oscar for "Darling," April 19, 1966. I love how absolutely "Old Hollywood" glam this snapshot is. The dramatics are amazing. From her nonchalant gaze away from the anxious cameras, to Oscar casually standing at the mics, to the ever lingering smoke. So much eye candy here. Love.

Will you be watching Sunday night? I can't wait, especially for the red carpet. And I'm truly hoping I am pleasantly surprised by co-hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway. I like them individually, but putting them together to host such an event threatens to put me in my uncomfortable zone. What do you think?

Team Neutral ...

Loved this Chanel Couture gown and the bunched up bracelets on the one arm.
Her eyes even seemed to match the silver accents of her bracelets and dress.

This Marchesa is pretty but it's Sandy's (like I know her) hair and make-up
that make this outfit. And I'm happy she won Best Actress looking so great.

What can I say? Demi simply looks stunning in this Versace number.
Although, (forgive me some of you) I still protest the "whoops, one strip of
hair fell out by accident but looks sexy" hairdo. I don't get it.

Cameron looks like a modern day princess in her Oscar de la Renta.
I'm just not sure I liked her hair down. I think I wish it were an updo.

Team neutral opted for the safe colors but the dress choices were really pretty. Sandra wins best hair for sure and I'm still trying to figure out SJP's hairdo. It was business in the back (perfectly braided very large bun) and party in the front (slicked back, ratted mess). Not sure what was going on there but I think J.Lo went to the same hairdresser because she had the same messy slick back SJP had.

Fabulous Sunday ...

Zoe in Givenchy, and Vera in Marchesa.

Here are my two favorite "perfectly over the top" Oscar gowns worn by Zoe Saldana and Vera Farmiga last night. They both looked beautiful, elegant and fun–it was a nice burst of energy for the Oscars. I've never seen such a cascade of color and texture like Zoe's gown and Vera's looks like such a pretty flower. Usually I'm drawn to the more elegant neutral colored Oscar gown, but these two were an unavoidable excitement of color. And I thought both Steve and Alec did a great job hosting. I thought it was so funny when they panned on them backstage sitting on a couch in a Snuggie. Oh yeah, did I really see John Travolta in jeans?!

Hope you all had a great weekend. My birthday was awesome. It started out with a Dutch Baby (German pancake) for breakfast, a Starbucks hot chocolate w/extra whipped cream later on, an air bass performance by Eric (gets me everytime), Sprinkles red velvet cupcakes, Shepherd's Pie for dinner and the Oscars. 'Twas a great day!
