Friends ...

Friendships come in all shapes and sizes. You've got your old friends you grew up with, college friends, friends from work. And then as life evolves we develop friends from play dates, friends from the gym, and well, one's you meet through your blog;)

Yesterday was an instance in gathering with old friends for me. Friends I've known since grade school. We don't get to see each other that often since the natural state of busyness has set in with many of us having married, had kids, chosen a career path and/or have simply moved a long distance. But yesterday we congregated, with all of our families in tow, for a beach day and it was so much fun! But more importantly, it was easy.

Later on it got me thinking that some of the best friendships are the one's that can withstand time and absence, and still pick right up where you left off the last time you saw each other. Those friendships are real. Those friendships are unconditional. Those friendships are priceless.

It's no nice to read that you had a great time.

I'm lucky enough to have the same kind of friends (not for so long, though; as I moved a lot during my early years and it was tough to get close to those friends-colleagues [kids nowadays have it easier with email and mobilephones ahahahah]) - but we pick the phone and keep on talking as if we've been in the same conversation for hours when sometimes has been weeks since we talked. When we get together we're as comfortable as sisters... and we're not even close, but in different countries. Priceless indeed!!!

I so love that idea that she's there for me and I'm and I'll be here for her. Makes one walk with a permanent smile on her face.

Have a Nice Week!

I completely agree - it's so rare to find those sorts of friendships where you meet up again after so much time passes and there are no awkward pauses, you seem to understand each other perfectly still :) And that's when it really doesn't matter how much time passes because the friendships will always be there :)

So true! I can totally relate to this, I have friends that I use to play with in 2nd grade, and one of my favorite people in the whole world is a friend that i went to collage with and have known over 10 years. it is always so grounding to be with the people that have known you so long and just love you for who you are.
i just wish i could live down the street from all the people i love. my wanderlust has taken me so far away from everyone!

i couldn't agree more. because i moved to canada, all of my best friends live far away and i see them very rarely. but when i do see them - it's like no time has passed at all + it's always magical and edifying :)

Such a touching post. I cherish my friends, but my husband is my closest. He's my comfort zone.

I love this post! It's so true! Some of my favorite friends are those that I only talk to a couple times per year. Thank goodness for Facebook and blogs, they make it so much easier to keep in touch!

I know precisely what you mean. I moved when I was young, but the one friend I made in kindergarten, I still see now and then and I love how she's there for me no matter what. But I have different best friends from all the times in my life. They definitely keep me grounded.
