Weekend In Review ...

1. Eric bought these pretty pink roses for me on Friday. They kept catching my eye all weekend, I loved it.

2. We watched the documentary 180° South Saturday night. It was based on a trek inspired by a similar one environmentalist Yvon Chouinard had taken in 1968. I had the privilege of hearing Yvon speak at a Surf Summit about 4 or 5 years ago so it was really neat to have such a great cinematic look into one of his most famous journeys. The cinematography was an amazing topper to the whole inspiring story.

3. The new band room. This is the mini drum kit I mentioned on Friday. And that beautiful, shiny, black Washburn acoustic guitar there? Oh, I won that in a giveaway from my friend Dusty's 30th anniversary party for his dad's guitar shop over the weekend. Can you believe it?! I was ecstatic! I get a free lesson too from none other than the guitarist from The Steve Miller Band. He actually came up with the riff (that's right, I said "riff") for "Jungle Love." I will for sure keep you posted on my upcoming lesson:)

4. We rounded out our weekend with Herb & Dorothy. The cutest, most unassuming elderly couple who slowly but surely built a world-class art collection off of Herb's modest postal worker salary alone. Dorothy's librarian salary went toward the bills and mortgage of their tiny one bedroom Manhattan apartment. After purchasing more than 2,000 pieces of works they finally gifted their collection to the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC where their collection is worth millions of dollars. This just goes to show where there's a will, there's a way. And like the DVD tagline says, "You don't have to be a Rockefeller to be an art collector."

You are cool parents. I always wanted to play the drums but my mom made me play the clarinet instead. I hated it! Beautiful flowers : )

Hubby loves the drums and guitar! And he also bought me some roses this weekend. Don't roses just exude romance?

You're so awesome and thanks for brightening my day!

I must see Herb & Dorothy.

I am sitting here freaking out that you won that AWESOME guitar, and that you get a lesson from the guitarist from The Steve Miller Band! Too cool! I will bring over my tamborine and Bronson will wheel over his crocodile xylophone and we can jam out.
