Speaking Of ...

Sofia Coppola & Thomas Mars of Phoenix

Even though they're not married Sofia and Thomas still fit the bill of significant others who work together–especially since they just had their second child. Thomas and his band Phoenix have collaborated with Sofia (once again) on her latest film that everyone is excited about, Somewhere. I think working together and doing a creative collaboration might even be a bit tougher. So kudos to these two.

P.S. If you're in the mood click here to see what it's like when Phoenix and Snooki collide. I'm warning you, it kind of hurts.

Cyrus ...

Not sure when, but I will be seeing this. Cyrus comes out tomorrow and it looks so funny. In brief, a divorced man (John C. Reilly) finds the woman of his dreams (Marisa Tomei), but her awkward son (Jonah Hill) isn't having it. Just looking at Jonah's expressions makes me laugh–love him. The HuffPost gave it a pretty good review.

Matthew (Jonah): I have a question for you real quick. What did you think of my demo? Did you get it, did you get it?
Aldous Snow (Russell): I was gonna listen to that, but then, um, I just carried on living my life.

The dissed look on Jonah's face was priceless. I cracked up for so long after that scene. So I'm hoping their new film together Get Him To The Greek will stack up. It's supposed to be a sequel of sorts to Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Aziz from Parks and Recreation is in it too which for me is a plus–he's hilarious. Here's the trailer. Think you'll see it?

The Dinner Scene ...

Do you recall this? I was beyond excited to run into this photo (one of many) over at The Skirted Roundtable (via beachbungalow8, via San Diego Songbirds)! It's from one of my favorite scenes in Something's Gotta Give. I loved everything in this scene from the lines, to the lighting, to the way the camera captured all of them in conversation. Truly a memorable scene, made me want to be there.

The September Issue Update ...

For those of us who blinked and The September Issue vanished from our local theater (and for those who didn't get it at all) Netflix just updated their availability status of TSI from "unknown" to February 2010 ... finally! Do you think they heard me?

It's Great ...

Hooray! I got to see It's Complicated yesterday and the decor was every bit the eye candy I thought it would be. I just wish we'd have been able to see more of the house like we did in Something's Gotta Give. Or is it because I've seen SGG a million times that I've noticed more things? In any case, I recommend seeing it. Even Eric liked it:)

It's Meryl ...

I received my sub of Vanity Fair (Jan. '10) over the weekend and I was overcome with happiness to find the lovely Meryl Streep on the cover. Honestly, she really is the Hollywood actress to be ... ultra-talented, smart, beautiful, graceful, out of the tabloids.

I cannot wait to see her new film It's Complicated this month. It's written and directed by Nancy Meyers who is responsible for two of my other favorites Something's Gotta Give and The Holiday. Meryl's quote from the issue says it all ... "It's incredible–I'm 60, and I'm playing the romantic lead in romantic comedies!" That is amazing, and if you ask me it's both refreshing and modern.

Trip Down Memory (Fabulous) Lane ...

Remember these? Ran into SATC again the other night and of course I watched as long as I could just to see her outfits ... again. There's something about Carrie's character that makes me feel like I could just possibly pull off those outfits. Maybe because she's approachable and relatable? Must be, because while someone like Kate Moss looks good in anything I just don't get that same feeling from her. Isn't that strange?

And the wedding dress ... I can never get enough. I love seeing it every single time. I think the "bird" in her hair and veil were brilliant. What did you think?

The Wild Kid ... Imaad Wasif

So, my husband’s talking to our friend Imaad the other night and he casually let’s us know that he finished up a project with Karen O of the YYY’s. Turns out that Karen O and The Kids wrote the original songs for the motion picture soundtrack for Where the Wild Things Are. Imaad was one of the Kids'. How cool is that? Couple things about Imaad … 1. He’s a talented singer, guitarist and songwriter 2. He doesn’t tell you that when you’re watching the film Laurel Canyon, he’ll be in it. Imaad just released his third solo album The Voidist this month … check it out.
