Stay Silly ...

Just a reminder from me to stay silly this weekend. This is an homage to what my uncle told us when Eric and I first got married. It resonated then and it still very much resonates now after almost nine years of marriage! Yikes, where does the time go? Hope everyone has an amazing (keep it silly) weekend. Group hug! (that was for you DB:)

Be the first. Be the light.

It's Friday! I for one cannot believe tomorrow's already the start of February. However, I plan to try to stay in bed for as long as I can tomorrow (which in mom world is 'til about 7am), drink my coffee and continue reading this. I am a self proclaimed digital marketing enthusiast after all. Plus, Gary V. is quite the inspirational social media junkie.

Any fun plans this weekend? If you're up for some funny (and some serious talent), you have to watch Eric's friend John McGuire do this incredible impersonation of Kramer (yes, that Kramer) on a skateboard. You won't regret it. It's all sorts of good. Have a great weekend everyone!

Be the first. Be the light.

It's 5pm Somewhere ...

Holy moly is tomorrow December 1st already? Normally I would be kicking my shopping into high gear right about now, but guess what party people? I'm almost completely done with my shopping this year! I held true to my declaration of starting to shop right after Halloween and somehow it worked. And let me tell you it feels great. What about you? Almost done? Just getting started?

Last night my friend Shawna and I went to the cutest holiday social at Urbanic in Venice. It was such a great way to kick off the holiday season. The shop was completely adorable as always and we had such a great time.

It's 5pm Somewhere ...

Aaaaand it's Friday. Any fun plans? Anyone doing any last minute halloween shopping for next week? I'm not one to usually dress up (I know) but then I ran into Design Mom's video 6 Ideas For the Costume Averse and I was inspired by the bug idea. Basically you get a bunch of small, plastic bugs, hot glue safety pins on them, and pin them on yourself in areas like the back of your head, shoulder or pant leg–places where it might look like you don't know they're there. How easy (and fun) is that?! Plus, just like Gabrielle says, the kids will get a kick out of it.

Wishing everyone a great weekend! Group  hug:)

Hello? ...

The evolution of the telephone. How funny is this? What I love about this visual timeline is that you can see how there was some sort of party happening around the 60's and 70's with the fun, bright pastel colors. Then things started getting dismal again around the 80's. Speaking of phones, do you have a land line where you live? We currently just use our cell phones, but I'm getting nostalgic for a land line (sans caller ID). I kind of miss that element of surprise when I was a kid and the phone used to ring in our house and we'd answer not knowing who it was. Then someone would yell, "Haydee it's for yooouuu!" Yeah, I think I'm going to bring that back for my kiddos. Back to simplicity.

Whoa, didn't think I had so much to say about telephones. Let's get down to business. Any fun plans this weekend? We have a kiddo's birthday party to go to which should be fun. Then on Sunday I have a TPS photo shoot which I know will be fun and laughter filled. Looking forward to it. Hope everyone has a great weekend! Group hug:)

This pretty much sums it up. We will be trying to do just this as the weather continues to soar. Supposed to be 96º today people! I wouldn't mind it so much if it were more of a dry heat, but lately the humidity levels have made me feel out of sorts. Does that happen to anyone else?

Take it easy, and have a great weekend! Group hug:)

As I type this (late, oops) post at 7:03pm it's 86º outside! It's been hot people. In fact, dusk to evening beach sessions have been our thing lately. Even early morning 9am sessions have been happening. Anything to be near the water and try and escape the midday heat and being cooped up all day in the house. I don't know how they do it in the desert. How is it where you are?

Any fun plans this weekend? We have a whole lot of nothing going on which I love! Although I do have to continue transforming our storage room into an office. Man, it's hard to "quickly" go through boxes. Wish me luck. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend! Group hug:)

Well, here we are at the first weekend of August. Also known as the home stretch before school starts. But let's not focus on that. Let's talk about the Olympics! How great were all the winners this week? My favorite Olympic side note this week was finding out that swimmer Missy Franklin recently got her braces removed. No wonder she flashes that smile like nobody's business! And of course the team win for women's gymnastics and Gabby's all-around gold medal. She's incredible. What about you? What's been your favorite Olympic side note/moment so far?

Any fun plans this weekend? If you get a moment stop on by Erin's blog, Such Small Steps where I did a fun "Get To Know" Q & A. Hope everyone has a great weekend! Group hug:)

This is what I'm talking about when the weather gets unbearably warm. Nothing like an old fashioned, frosty ice cream cone. Or I could be talking about a Dos Equis with lime if it's nearing the ol' happy hour. It's been my summer drink lately and I swear by it. It's so refreshing! In fact, I share it over at TPS today along with some other things on my summer radar. Be sure to check it out. And speaking of ice cream, Siri contributed an awesome post on homemade Peach and Pecan Ice Cream that you can make without an actual ice cream maker. I know!

Wishing everyone a fabulous weekend! Group hug:)

Palm Springs Weekend ...

Good Monday! Did you have a good weekend? We took a weekend trek to Palm Springs last Friday for a few days and had the best time. Although I probably could've done with one more day. Always the case, right? Tried to catch P doing her cannonball but I kept capturing it too late. You get the gist of the fun here, don't you? She was pretty keen on wearing her swim cap and goggles the whole time, as inspired by the swim trials. Are you as excited about the Olympics as we are?

This was taken at about 7am when it was already 80º out! I miss it already. Luckily PS is only a couple of magical hours away. Wishing everyone a fantastic week ahead!

Happy first day of June! I can't believe the first month of summer is here. I get so giddy this time of year. Once June rolls around all I can think of are easy, breezy days; lounging around the yard, beach days, and floating in pools. I get excited for the kids too. Swim classes are in full effect (our only planned activity) as well as evening stops at the park to meet with friends because the warm weather is still lingering. Love this time of year!

What about you? Any fun plans for this first weekend of June? Thankfully we don't have much to do except for put up our new curtains from West Elm. Oh, and Eric and our 5 y/o, P have their first father-daughter dance tonight! If you know Eric, then you know that dancing is not his forté (I say this lovingly). However, being the trooper dad that he is, he has declared that he and P will be "cutting a rug tonight."

Also, check out the Fave Fives: Summer Kit for Baby that Joanna Goddard of A Cup of Jo put together for The Post Social. Have a great weekend everyone! Group hug:)

Alas, the weekend! How did you hold up this week? I for one am excited 'cause Eric comes home today from a business trip. So I'm very much looking forward to hitting the ol' reset button. I'm also pretty excited to be going to an old school steakhouse called Kelly's this weekend to celebrate my parent's anniversary. A great glass of wine will definitely be calling my name! Hope everyone has a great weekend! Group hug:)

P.S. My dear friend Brandis just released a sneak peak of her new line of paper goods. I know you're gonna love her stuff. Check it out and let her know what you think!

Remember this Gap ad from four years ago? Weren't they fun? I Love me some Will and Amy. And I think it's fascinating that they both have successful sitcoms, are on NBC, and on the highly coveted Thursday evening line-up. Impressive, right? Are you loving Up All Night as much as we are? Don't even get me started on Maya Rudolph ... LOVE.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Ours is shaping up to be another weekend full of family and friends. 'Tis the season! Group hug:)

Aaaaaand scene. Wow, it's been a busy week! I launched The Post Social with Julia and Heather, I got all my Christmas cards done (record breaker for me!), shopped for a birthday gift, crossed three gifts off my Christmas list, and tended non-stop to a two and five year old. The only way I could get through this crazy week was knowing that we have a fun-filled family weekend ahead of us. Starting with an awesome sit-down dinner party tonight at my parents house. It's an adults only, catered dinner at that! So yes, I will be partaking in the vino this evening and giving cheers to our launch and remembering why we celebrate this time of year. Hope everyone has a great weekend! Group hug:)

It's 5pm Somewhere ...

We can all relate to this, right? Good. Now I don't feel like the only one who, regardless of how organized I try to be, tend to run around like a chicken without a head. Such was this past week. And still today actually, as I am preparing to have 30+ family over tomorrow to celebrate P's 5th birthday. Yes, 30. And yes, my little P turned 5 this week. I know, I can't believe it. And my dear husband's birthday was this week too. So I had the painstaking task of not having our 5 y/o's birthday overshadow his birthday–at least for a few hours:) He's a trooper.

So do me a favor and send me some wonder woman vibes and some Tina Fey humor to get me through the weekend, will you? Hope you have a fantastic weekend everyone! Group hug:)

P.S. I did a fun guest post over at Where The Sidewalk Begins showcasing some things I look forward to this fall. Check it out, I think you'll like it.

It's 5pm Somewhere ...

Happy Friday! No, really. Very happy it's Friday. We've had quite an eventful week with our 4 y/o starting kindergarten (yay P!) and our 2.5 y/o going on his fourth day of no diapers! So needless to say, nap times are all amiss, making it to the potty is 50/50, and personalities are all over the place. But enough about my rock star life. Do you have fun plans for the weekend? Given our exciting/tiresome week I'm looking forward to having movie night and watching Happythankyoumoreplease. Anyone seen it? Hope everyone has a great weekend! Group hug:) Some weekend links for you ...

In case you missed it ... I did a fun guest post about X-Girl over at Tomboy Style

Vans can do no wrong in my eyes

Great identity

A fun backyard movie night by the brilliant Samantha. Goonies!

Caroline's illustrations are so fun

Love Judy's outfit based around her pencil skirt

It's just around the corner;)

I Don't Know, But I Like It ...

I call this one the animal stare down. A giraffe and ostriches. Then I realized with the two photos side by side the girls head looks like a pair of eyes. So naturally I added some red glasses. My theme here seems to be "reflect." I like this. Especially on a weekend where many, including myself, will be reflecting on this Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Wow, love it when an inspirational photo brings something full circle. Art is good that way.

Any fun plans this weekend? We have two birthdays and an Easter egg hunt to prepare for. And it all starts with an Easter parade today at P's school. I can't wait!

Hope everyone has a great and reflective weekend! Group hug:)

Spring, Finally? ...

Apparently it's going to start acting more like spring this week with warmer temperatures–finally! Couldn't come at a better time as we are all getting over colds and coughs this weekend. Not fun. But what was fun was winning at Boggle Saturday night during Earth Hour. Eric and I must've played 10 candlelit games while we had our tea. Would've preferred wine, but we were nursing ourselves back to health.

Oh well, new week, new temps. Hopefully these warmer temperatures that are on the horizon will bring dining alfresco. I love patio set ups like this one. I'm all about the wood patio and wood furniture with pops of color via pillows, flowers and natural greenery.

Hope everyone has a good Monday!

Look Out Weekend Here I Come ...

Yup, pretty cheesy. But I couldn't resist the "knockout" reference. C'mon, everyone needs a little cheese on a Friday–it's the weekend! Guess what else it is? It's my birthday weekend! My birthday isn't technically until Monday, but I'm declaring the start of it at midnight tonight. I'm not sure what Eric has planned yet, but whatever it is I'm pretty sure I'm going to milk it. It's how I do. See? I'm already acting entitled with my crazy talk.

Can we talk about Charlie Sheen for a sec? We finally watched his interview on Piers Morgan last night and have to say he was quite entertaining. He's like this crazy, scientific Hollywood experiment ... "how quickly can the star jump from cuckoo to normal to cuckoo again?" In the end I do hope he gets better, everyone deserves that. But can we also talk about how he said "I was like I got a tattoo, let's do this!" And of course "winning!" is a popular exclamation right now, but it does sound pretty dang funny when Carlos Estevez (Charlie's real name) says it with such conviction. Oh Chuck, get better.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Group hug:)

Happy Weekend Everyone! ...

I love this zebra print Jamie has here in her bar area. I would love to work that into a closet, small bathroom or kids room one day. It's so fun.

Just read an interview with the funny and talented Jamie Meares in High Gloss magazine (p. 56-57). She has great style and of course I've always liked her blog. Good weekend reads if you get the chance.

Speaking of the weekend, any plans? We're pretty much prepping for 100% chance of rain this weekend in usually sunny Southern California. So in preparation for this wet weather I made chili–our rainy comfort food. Other than that our biggest task this weekend is buying P her first set of soccer shoes (or "boots" for all you hooligans) and shin guards. She starts her spring soccer program next week and we are so excited. Can't wait to watch her team buzz around like little bees on the soccer field.

Wishing everyone a great weekend! Group hug:)
