Half ...

This image really grabbed my attention. From new publication Noon

Brows and Stares ...

Heavy on the brows and the stares, but I really love this capture.

I Don't Know, But I Like It ...

"IDKBILI" is a classic recurrence over here at Happenstance. As you can see here and here. It's that moment when you're really drawn to something, but can't quite explain its contents. This image by photographer Jen Siska is no exception. It just turns your imagination loose, doesn't it?

Alex Prager ...

Been a long time fan of photographer Alex Prager. Not only do I love how amazingly styled her subjects are, but you really do get a sense that everyone in the shot has a great story to tell. You just want to know more about them.
Last night Prager's new collection 'Face in the Crowd' opened up at M + B Gallery in Los Angeles. The show runs until March 8, 2014. Check it out if you can. And check here for more info. Hope everyone has an amazing week!

Be the first. Be the light.

Max Wanger ...

Just a couple of my favorite pics from Max Wanger's print shop. Hot tip* He's having a Black Friday sale with 15% off and free shipping with code "GOBBLE" at checkout. 'Tis after all, the season of giving!

I Don't Know, But I Like It ...

Totally awesome. And I like his kicks.

The Simple Things ...

I had to laugh a little when I saw this photo by Aaron Dyer. I mean it's a photo of an eraser, but I love gum erasers! Not sure if it's the shape, the color, or maybe the font? Whatever it is, it's a simple pleasure that's for sure. Speaking of simple pleasures I also used to keep a bar of surf wax in my office drawer at work because it smelled so good. It's the simple things you guys. Happy Thursday!

Young, Poolside Rolling Stones ...

Can you believe these photos of the very young Rolling Stones were found randomly at a flea market? It's believed that a close associate of the group took these shots during one of the Stones' early US tours. I mean the timing has to be correct. I'm not sure they stayed in Motels for very much longer after this. Aren't they amazing? And how cute is Mick's profile? All of the found images (there are 23 in all) will be on exhibit at Dilettante Gallery in Los Angeles until October 26. See and read more here

I Don't Know, But I Like It ...

I don't know where to begin. This photo is all sorts of awesome. Been a while since I've done an "IDKBILI." Hope you enjoy this vision as much as I do. Happy Tuesday!

P.S. Come check out the guest post I did for Siri over at Siriously Delicious. Siri and Carson just welcomed their baby girl (congrats guys!) into the world so I'm helping hold things down while they all get acquainted. Enjoy!

Photography / Peter Hapak ...

I fell in love with these images I stumbled upon by photographer Peter Hapak. They're from a series Hapak did for Time magazine a couple years back. Michelle's hair and make-up is perfection. And that profile!

Swimming ...

Keeping in the spirit of all the swimming that's been happening this summer between swim classes and the Olympics I thought I'd share these great photos of the Bosphorus Cross-Continental swim in Turkey that was shot by Andres Gonzalez.

Fun In Black + White ...

Some fun black and white captures I stumbled upon by photographer Horst Diekgerdes. I love the playfulness of the first two, and the fashion stare of the bottom two. Let's get inspired this week, shall we? Especially since it's a short week for most of you heading back to work today after the Presidents' holiday. And if you had to work yesterday, may you have an easy breezy day today.

Crossing NYC ..

I mean seriously, where do I begin? This photo by Monica Shulman is people watching perfection. Everyone almost seems purposely placed for this capture. I especially love all of the color happening and the boundless energy moving in either direction. Every single person in this photo had a destination the day they crossed this street. I find it fascinating to think of where they might all have been going or coming from. Were they happy? Hungry? Hurried? Just taking a stroll? In love? Heartbroken? I believe every single person has a story to tell. Don't you? Bravo to Monica for capturing "beautiful and interesting" yet again.

WTF(un) ...

I very much like the photos of couples acting goofy and silly. I very much relate to them. I'm sure Eric would very much agree.

Him & Her ...

A couple of my faves by photographer Clarke Tolton. I wonder what they were thinking in these shots?

Mommy & Me's ...

This is Ramya Giangola and her daughter Chiara. They're just one set of the mother/child(ren) photo shoots over on new-to-me site The Glow, which gives you "a glimpse into the world of inspiring and fashionable moms." The entire site is filled with amazing photos by Kelly Stuart. You can't help but be incredibly inspired by them. Plus, each photo is interlaced with just the right dose of fun editorial by Violet Gaynor.
A sparkly one-piece and water wings is the perfect ensemble for any little girls summertime pool time. I totally remember my water wings as a kid. Did you have 'em too?
I love the way Lauren Moffatt's daughter Stella is cupping her face and looking directly into her eyes. And can we talk about her cute little striped dress? Those shoulder ruffles! Too cute.
Little Stella reminds me of Scout from To Kill a Mockingbird in this photo. Adorable.

At Home With Karen Walker ...

I really like the easy, breezy style of designer Karen Walker's home in Auckland, New Zealand shot by The Selby. I think the dining room might be my fave, but the sitting room with the scattered photos all over the walls is a close second. Check out more photos of this great house here.

Crowd Fest ...

These are by far the best documentation of Coachella I have seen so far. They give you such a great perspective on just how huge this music festival is. Although I cannot imagine being in the center of this crowd and needing to use the loo. All images taken by the talented Keegan Gibbs for RVCA.

Sparkle Sessions ...

It's sparkly today, close to 80 degrees. Might spark some impromptu dance sessions today. And yes, she has a great profile. Kinda looks like a young Priscilla Presley in a way, right?

I Don't Know, But I Like It ...

Good Monday! Thought I'd start the week out with an old fashioned Happenstance "IDKBILI." Today we bring to you random Star Wars TIE fighter vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle in what looks like a sad excuse for a scary shark hovercraft. Can you see Chewie hanging out in the guy's pocket? Don't know who the other guy is. Kind of looks like Eddie Munster or the Werewolf. Does it matter? No. But here's the metaphor I came up with ... "totally exposed, going up against the unknown while others stand by." Got one?

Take from this what you will, but more importantly here's to a great week and having a sense of humor!:)
