Thanks A Mil ...

You guys made my day yesterday, thank you! I got so many fun birthday wishes from every social media platform (so 2012!). I even got several old fashioned phone calls! Ended up having a fantastic day spent with family and eating lots of great food and desserts. But what was even more fun was receiving my Madewell catalog and noticing the Paris theme–it finally hit me that I'm going to Paris at the end of the month! If you follow me on Twitter, you already know this:) Even though I've known about our trip for a bit now, it just doesn't hit you right away. Especially with running around after kids all day long. But now, it's starting to set in. So tell me, have you been to Paris? Fill me in, tell me your favorite places and things I shan't miss!

P.S. Don't forget to check back later. I have another post coming and it's a fun sneak peak ...

Gah I am so excited for you! How in the world you kept that in for so long just boggles my mind. You are going to have such much fun and I cannot wait to see all the photos.

You must grab an adult beverage and head to Sacré-Coeur to watch the sunset over the city. Also, Musée de l'Orangerie in the Tuileries Gardens is my absolute favorite. Giant Monet water lily paintings line the walls and it is breathtaking! Enjoy your trip! Can't wait for your recap when you return!

I've been to Paris once before, and I'm going again in May! Definitely the most beautiful city in the world, and even if you solely focus on the "touristy" bits like the Louvre, the Musee D'Orsay, the Eiffel Tower (go to the top!), Ile de la Cite, Notre Dame, Ladurée, etc etc you'll still end up having an amazing and authentic experience. Wandering the city from one destination to the next uncovers the best little treasures. Everything is somehow magical and beautiful. Even the fact that no one picks up after their dogs. Have dinner at Brasserie Lipp and do a picnic at the side of the Seine for lunch.

I'd recommend a trip to Versailles and Rodin's estate, as well. Both were breathtaking. You're going to have so much fun!

And a very happy belated birthday to you! xo

Oh my gosh, I am so excited for you!!! Are the little ones going with you, or will it be just you and E? I can't wait to hear all about it! Sunshine & Cheer.

Totally forgot to leave my own tip. Sometimes I have a one track mind, I tell you. Erin has got all the must-see sites covered for your first time...Oh, Laduree for macarons!
If you can squeeze it in, promise me you'll do this: Go to Montmartre. On the top of this hill sits a beautiful church that overlooks all of Paris. It's a trek to get up there, but once there, you won't regret it. Before you make the hike up the hill, grab a bottle of red, loaf of bread, some cheese, and salami from a deli at the bottom of the hill. Grab your goods, make the trek up, marvel at the church for a bit, and then sit your bottom on the steps and enjoy some quality time with E. It's a great place to reflect and count your blessings (and people watch). While you're doing all this, don't forget to think: We're in Paris!!

I love the fact that you're coming to my city! I am living in Paris once again and this time for good.
There are so many places to discover! I know the city very well but what I'm loving the most is the new vibe of "let's risk it" going on.. I've met so many designers, restaurant owners, artists that are new and taking a chance on themselves by opening so many new and interesting businesses. Just yesterday I discovered a Vegan takeout place that was chic, reminded me of New York and I'm going to shoot for my own blog. Don't spend too much time in lines for museums, just pick a neighborhood or a street and walk and let it all sink in. Two words for you: Upper Marais. You will be enchanted!
