Go Skateboarding Day ...

If you see hordes of skaters out and about today that would be because it's Go Skateboarding Day. Don't be afraid to throw up a high five or two, especially if you're in the Venice area. That's where Eric will be rolling around today.

This iconic skate photo of ex-pro Tod Swank was taken by legendary skate photog Grant Brittain. Both Eric and I had the privilege of working with Grant at TWS just before he started TSM (one of my favorite photos of Eric was taken by Grant). I've always loved this photo because there's so much to appreciate about it whether you know skateboarding or not. Plus to me, the basic push on a board has always looked so stylish.

Also in honor of GSD, I wanted to share this link to the intro to Mouse–a skateboard film directed by Spike Jonze. My brother and I used to watch it all the time and sing that song endlessly. "Threeeee is a magic number ... "

I love, love, love that you are a woman that is so into skateboarding and surfing! I don't skate personally, (well, I do want to achieve my goal of the basic push this summer) but my boyfriend is an avid skater. Every. Single. Day. It's really gotten me to appreciate it so much more. As for surfing, a hopeful summer vacation to Australia will take care of that. Stupid South Dakota, no ocean nearby! :)

I heard about this! I always wish I had the skill to skateboard. I always just fall off immediately.

Love the skating culture.
