"When you learn, teach. At our best we are all teachers." – Dr. Maya Angelou
This past Wednesday evening my mom and I had the blessed honor of hearing Dr. Maya Angelou speak at UCLA's Royce Hall. It was the most riveting, inspiring 60 minutes I've ever experienced. I remember watching Oprah's series Master Class with Maya Angelou recently and her voice and words were so penetrating I couldn't help but be consumed with not just inspiration, but another level of human understanding. I watched it three days in a row. And each time felt like the first. Her experiences through her words and voice simply make you want to do good, be good and see good. So you can imagine how I felt actually seeing her live and sitting less than 50 ft. from her on stage (our seats were amazing) listening to her every word and falling into her every gesture. It was surreal. So much so that I got emotional a few times. This is a woman to be. She's an amazing example of intelligence, resilience and triumph.
If you have time over the weekend you can watch excerpts from her Master Class episode here. The longest one is about 80 seconds, but in those seconds you'll see precisely what I mean.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. Group hug:)
