WWW Dot? ...

Not that long ago I read a joke about how people with Aol. accounts still say "www dot" before giving out a web address. Obviously this might indicate that Aol. users are prehistoric when it comes to technological advances. But then I started noticing these ads lately. All I could think was "really, Alec and Claire still say www dot?" Jokes aside, I do think these images breathe some life back into the idea of Aol. and I like the new logo. Which is why it didn't surprise me that Partners & Spade (Kate Spade's husband, Andy's company) were behind the transformation. Will be interesting to see if we see a surge in Aol. users again.

I always, I mean always, make fun of aol users. I just hear that dial up sound in my head and silently laugh to myself. That and Juno.

You always have awesome insider information.

It's funny, my husband just came home yesterday and told me how much he LOVES AOL radio...I hadn't heard of it, but I'm gonna check it out. My mom still uses AOL. It's funny, she was very much ahead of her time as a Baby Boomer Mom using the internet in the mid 90s, but somewhere along the line she forgot to get a gmail account and was left behind...

Love the picture of Alec! I never had an AOL account, just a hotmail which I no longer use. Gmail only.

Ha! We still use AOL instant messaging at work and I didn't think much of it until I was at party recently and the topic came up. Everyone was like, "Is AOL still around?? Who uses AIM?!" So funny.

Interesting. I know my mother still uses AOL and I roll my eyes every time I encourage her to switch away from it but she insists on sticking with it. The site is a bit too overwhelming and busy for my tastes. Does that mean I'm an internet minimalist? And I was thinking about whether or not I say "www dot". I may. The consequences of having used AOL long ago?

Okay, I adore Alec Baldwin!! Along with this campaign, have you heard his new ads on NPR for fundraising? They're hilarious..love that man!

I *love* the photos and the actors featured, but the campaign itself seems a little flat. Any logo could replace Aol. and the ad would look just as wonderful but do just as little of informing me about the value of the brand/product/content. An especial crime for Aol. since they have so much great, new stuff to offer users!

I can't stop laughing. I totally hear the dial up sound when someone says AOL. But what I can't for the life of me believe is that people not only say www., but when they give the web address they follow it up with "it's all one word". Oh my GOSH are you kidding me!? BTW, it's usually realtors who do this.

you know, i actually heard that when you're job hunting, it's best to have a gmail or yahoo account because often times younger, hipper places will disregard your resume if they see you have an aol email... shows you're kind out of touch. interesting. i do love me some alec though!

Wow. I'm a total AOL hater (heard that joke too) but this is an impressive revamp and pretty clever advertising...
