Time For The Holiday ...

Yesterday Catherine over at Rikshaw Design did a post about wanting to do a house swap like the one in The Holiday. How fun is that?! I love that movie. It reminded me of this awkward phone scene I like so much. My favorite storyline of the film however, is Kate Winslet and Arthur's (the old man). I love their first dinner together and the advice he gives her. And I love, love, love the scenes in Cameron's (new Hollywood) and Arthur's (old Hollywood) houses the best.

P.S. Speaking of Cameron, did you know she and I have Long Beach in common? It's where I grew up. I wrote a little about it here over at The SoHo.

This is one of my favorite movies too. It's always a go-to movie for me. I also love the story between Iris and Arthur. I think that's what makes the movie. I have to admit that though the houses in LA are beautiful, I kind of love Iris's cottage and the town it's in. It looks like it's right out of a Dickens book. It would be the perfect place to spend Christmas.

I have always been curious about doing a house swap! It sounds like such a great idea in theory...I have a good friend who has traveled this way several times and loves it. I actually did a post on it today if you are interested! Here's a link...

That movie, for me is the epitome of house porn. Really - could they both live in more perfect places?

Interestingly, we just did a home swap this summer two weeks from California to Vermont. It was AWESOME, especially travelling with kids. We saved a fortune in hotel and eating out expenses. We used this company: http://www.homeexchange.com/

I can't recommend it enough!
