I've often wondered why restaurant kitchens don't share the same beautiful ambiance as their dining rooms. Is there anything worse than dining at a beautifully lit restaurant and catching a glimpse of the sterile looking kitchen from behind the sad curtain they think is shielding this bright, obnoxious truth? Kills a mood really. So what a pleasant and welcoming surprise it was to run into these great kitchen photos of the Copenhagen restaurant
Noma.
Noma's chef Rene Redzepi was just voted best chef in the world via the renowned S.Pellegrino list of the
World's Best Restaurants for 2010. It all makes sense, doesn't it? Beautiful restaurant. Beautiful kitchen. World class food.

Ooh, I love that. I went to a restaurant in DC a couple months ago, and they had an open kitchen, where you could see all the sterling silver and watch them prepare the dishes. I just love that - they should have more restaurants like that! It just makes the whole dining experience even better :)
Completely agree! Catching a glimpse of a sterile kitchen really does kill the mood. Love this post. Awesome awesome.
I so agree! I used to work in a restaurant and that kitchen agitated me and I never knew why. But you are so right! They aren't very welcoming, are they?
i love open kitchens.. there are so many good ones up here in SF..i like to sit at teh bar that looks in and watch them create..it beats stale conversation..

Do you think they'd let me work there? I'd do it for free, especially if they gave me a good apron. And I completely agree with you -- there are so many amazing restaurant decors out there but the kitchens all make me tense. Not this one.
