I love my worn in, faded Chucks. It' been cold here in So. California lately so yesterday morning when I had to wear shoes I reached for my trusty Chucks. But to my horror I realized that I just might have reached the point of needing to break in a new pair. I'm at a total fork in the road because I hate how long it takes to break in a new pair, but I don't want to reach the "homeless chic" point either. Could the very reason I love them be the very reason I bid them adieu? Eric laughs at me because I have two other pair of Chucks that are like new. But I always reach for these because they're, well
already broken in. It's a vicious circle I tell you.
Ever have the dilemma of finally needing to get rid of something you love so much? And before you think I'm gross, I do wear footsies with my shoes.

I don't think you should get rid of them...if you want, get another pair, maybe of off white ones and start wearing those in too. That way you can give these a break now and then and have two awesome pairs!
You're making me want to wear mine more often so they start to look like yours! For some reason I love that photo too, the Chucks against the wood floor with that rug. Very tomboy cool : )
Don't say goodbye to the Chucks. They are great. But yeah, maybe, buy a new pair to work into the rotation for breaking in.
P.S.It's cute that you said you wear footsies! We weren't judging :)
I just this year got rid of a pair of pj pants that I've had for literally 15 years! I teared up. Some things are just better with age...especially converse!
This is a style dilemma I always have...I have new Chucks...but they're too NEW!!! I always go for my nasty looking navy blue ones...

Did I tell you that my husband has worn chucks for the last 16 years? He goes through them like the candy he eats. He has no qualms about letting them go, in fact he loves the feel of new ones.
But the blue ones look so good. They deserve to be broken in.
ah, the catch 22 of chucks... in order to wear them you must love them, but in order to love them you must wear them. i feel ya there. i, too, hang on to things that are far past their prime. case in point: my 25-year-old teddy bear (named "baby") that still sits on my bed every day. i wish i were more embarrassed about it... but i just love that darn thing!
hihihi, I thought I was the only one... hanging on to few beloved 'really' old pieces. these ones actually still look great :)
Oh! Mine are much worse...keep em! The scruffier the better ;)
i've had mine for 10 years! keep them! also, with a new pair of mine, i left them on the roof for a week and they got nice and faded looking... you'll just want to check them for spiders and bird doodoo;)
I have a thing for majorly worn out sweatshirts. My fave is my grey pullover hoodie that has been around for no joke 25 years. I think it was my Mom's that I "borrowed". Still lovin' it...holes, black paint and worn out sleeves and all.
I don't know why but I just love this series of photos! Keep the chucks!!
Those are just getting good!!!It takes years to perfect the broken in Chuck. If i didn't have my half-about-to-dissolve-from-excessive-wear black high-tops and my soft worn-in cream lo-tops, my wardrobe wouldn't be worth a thing. Unless they smell terrible or have holes in the bottom, keep those beauties in rotation!
