Hair Apparent ...

What did I get for Mother's Day? Only the best thing a mother of two with frizzy hair can ask for ... the Brazilian Blowout! And now my hair feels like this amazing flow of cascading glamour. Let me back up a sec ... the Aveda salon I go to was offering a first-time offer that was too good to refuse so that is what I chose as my Mother's Day gift–this process is not cheap. My stylist Cat calls it "wash and wear" which is precisely what I'm excited about. I leave it wet and it dries straight and shiny! No more having to blow it dry! You have to understand, prior to this if I had let my hair dry naturally and tried to go out in public you probably would've tackled me on the street and made a citizens arrest.

Overall, my weekend was great. Including watching our recorded SNL last night with Betty and J-Hov. Did anyone watch? How cute is Betty White? 88.5 (or as I would say, eighty-great and a half) years old and the woman was handling her business. Love her. Jay's first medley performance was awesome, still don't know what to think about that second performance–I can't get over that song he sampled but that's another post. Hope you all had a great weekend!

Getting your hair blown dry by a professional is up there on my all-time favorite things. Mainly because I HATE DOING IT MYSELF. Which is why most of the time my hair goes up, straight out of the shower. Healthy. Glad you had a Happy Mother's Day!

Tell me more about the Brazilian Blowout... is it just a blow dry or do they actually add chemicals to your hair?? Oh how i'd love to skip the 20 min blowdry every morning!! Sounds like my hair is much like yours. Sounds like something I need to do!!

See, this is exactly why I love my fellow bloggers... you guys teach me so much! :-)

How fun! As someone who has stick straight hair I didn't know what a blow out was until a few weeks ago. I KNOW! I'm slow. Uhh... where are the pictures?

JEALOUS! (..although quite sure you deserved the treat!)

I have increadibly thick, wild locks and am wedded to my GHD ceramic straightners without which I'd look like sideshow bob on a bad day most of the time. Had my hair chemically relaxed a few times before which was blissful, but sadly couldn't afford to keep up the high maintanance do. Do tell us how long it's lasts for..

Jen: They do apply a solution to your hair in the process. It was a wash/condition/mask/rinse. Add solution/Blow dry/flat iron (optional) and then wash out again/style. The whole thing took about 90 min. Since Aveda is known for natural and environmental products I felt comfortable getting this done through them.

Ephemerette: The whole thing lasts 10-12 weeks. Since it is a bit of an investment I'd probably do it once a year during the three months you'd want less upkeep time in your life. For me that would be summertime.

I've been considering a Brazilian blow-out. Now you've got me totally intrigued!

My roommate is a hair stylist who does Brazilian blowouts. She swears by them (she's got curly hair) but since I have straight hair I apparently don't need it too badly.
And I had a lovely weekend -- got to relax a bit and finally did some baking (chocolate bouchons)!

A Brazilian Blowout---now that is one serious present! I'm so envious...what I would give to "wash and wear"!

That is SO great! I have such thin hair, I'd never need this, but it sounds awesome!
