Dolls? Really? ...

"Mad Men" dolls Joan, Roger, Don, and Betty. The ladies look like aliens, Roger looks like Elaine's boss on "Seinfeld," and Don looks like a young Marlon Brando.

At first I thought, oh good for them. But then picturing little girls playing with these dolls suddenly seemed weird. "Mad Men" is synonymous with adultery, alcohol and insecurities. Great adult drama entertainment, not so great kids toy. I want to know who high-fived the person in the Mattel marketing meeting who thought it would be brilliant to create new dolls based on "Mad Men" characters. Really? I'm a huge "Mad Men" fan, but dolls? Alright, but here's the ironic thing. At first glance the only recognizable doll is Joan mainly because of her red hair and particular outfit. However, her body seems to be the same size as Betty's which is so not the case. Joanie is voluptuous! So far no accessories have been created but something tells me that mini bar carts, packs of smokes and a Barbie dream office are in the works. I'm filing this one under "still don't get it." What do you think?

Cracks me up. I say the SAME thing to myself with certain commercials.

Although I'm still out of the Mad Men loop, I don't quite get this either. Also, I hate the face that Joanie is the same size as Betty. anfaoeruna;sdknfieurnf.

That's all.

It's appalling! Why this society thinks it has to capitalize on every trend is beyond me, it's totally inappropriate on every level, thanks for calling it out.

I suppose I should be appalled, but quite frankly, I want one! It's not like the three year old playing with the doll knows the back story...does this make me a bad future mother? Ekkk. I don't know, I just adore the outfits. Though I do think Joan should be curvier!!! XO Katie

I think the dolls were made for the Barbie-collector set (yes, they exist), not for children. I don't know if that cuts down on the weird factor but I just thought I'd add my two cents.:)
