I Heart Beer ...

I do. Don't worry, I'm still as sophisticated as you think I am. I do enjoy the occasional glass of vino, in fact I wish I were better versed in wine, but a pint really does the trick. I read an article a few months ago in Fast Company where the focus was trying to brand/advertise beer to women. I never realized it was such a big challenge to market beer to women. Did you? In fact, I didn't even know they were trying. But one thing is for sure, please beer companies, do not "pink it and shrink it." Isn't that a great tag line? An example of this, as the issue pointed out, would be mini pink tool kits. Yikes. Seriously though, I loathe the day I see a pink Guinness label.

P.S. If you're a beer marketer contact me, I'd love to sit in on your next brain storming session:)

I wholeheartedly agree! I don't need girly beer, or a pink football jersey, or a pastel tool kit to make me interested in all of those things.

I LOVE beer so very much and drink it all time (and sometimes with a glass of sake next to it, my favorite combo.....)

Lauren: That's the other thing! Pink jerseys! I still cannot find a Laker shirt that I would actually wear. I seriously think I might have to make my own.

Joanna: I TOTALLY remember vying for my first beer when I was pregnant both times. It was amazing when I finally got one–I wanted to spoon with it. If I find myself in NY this summer maybe we can grab one! I love going to a bar and having a beer:)

I totally agree! I used to hate beer, but ever since I studied/lived in Prague, I've grown to love hearty beer. I'm also a marketing student and have read a few business cases on marketing beer to women! Really fascinating stuff :)

I've actually had PINK GUINNESS - I kid you not! - when I lived in London, I went to this sweet little pub one Valentine's Day, drank quite a few pints and, as I recall, it was goood. Cheers.

Beer is the best! I was never a beer drinker until I was 27, living in Cork Ireland, where they have a Heinekin brewery and well, it just would have been rude of me not to support the local economy, wouldn't it? (I'm not going to mention Cork also has a Beamish brewery or that Ireland is the home of Guinness because I don't like the taste of either).

I have nothing against the colour pink, but making something pink for the sake of marketing it towards women is just plain insulting.

ohhh, beer is my favorite!

Lola: That is funny. Although I'm not opposed to a pink beer on a special occasion (especially in London). It's when it's used to appeal to my senses and buying capabilities that I get all soccer hooligan.

Annelise: Totally would've been rude. You're a good girl:)

I'm a bartender at a German Pub and let me tell ya, we have a pretty nice beer selection so I try to educate the girls who come in on the beer and get them drinking it. A lot of it is girls who don't know enough about beer order cocktails because they're not sure what beer they'd like. Beer marketers, more samples and less pink labels!

Dennise: How cool that you work at at pub in Germany! I've been to a pub in Germany and it was the coolest place ever. It was in a cellar type place, I'll never forget it. The ambiance and beer were great. And I agree with you about girls not knowing enough about beers. Sounds like beer tastings need to become more prevalent:)
