It Started Out So Well ...

Did I tell you about the perfect house I found last week for our relocation move? It was in the school district I most prefer, the owners loved us, it had a separate office/library and its custom design was inspired by the Museum of Contemporary Art La Jolla. But most importantly, it was in our budget! But then ...

I get a call from the owners saying that they had a family friend who found out about their house and thus felt compelled to give it to them. I felt like I got punched in the stomach. I still have that gross feeling of having been dumped. You go about your day and almost forget it happened, but realize it did happen and you get that sinking feeling again.

So now the bar is set high and of course nothing's even coming close. Man, it started out so perfect but quickly turned into a flop. Much like this guys dive here–but it's still a beautiful shot. On that note, optimistic I will remain as the "refresh" button continues to be my best friend on several property sites until I find "the one." Wish me luck! Hope everyone has a fab weekend! Group hug:)

  5. That's terrible!! We had some similar situations when we were looking for houses a few years ago. It feels like someone pulled the rug right out from under you, but I promise that it will get better...much better. I think everything always happens for a reason. I didn't know it back then, but when we lost our "dream house," we gained a fresh perspective and eventually found one in a much better place that we love.

  8. It's happened to me before. I hate that. It makes you not want to have that fun feeling of anticipation, but your fighting that.

I've been looking for a new place for the last couple of years here in San Diego and nothing has fit the bill. It's better to have a timeline. I think it makes it easier for stuff to fall into place.

  15. Rental rejection is the worst! It definitely feels like you got dumped! My mister and I have definitely been there. It's heartbreaking, especially for people who care about their living space so much. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, so just keep trying and you'll find something you love. Good luck!!

  19. I'm so sorry. When the same thing happened to us, my mother in law said "everything happens for a reason." I wanted to punch her at the time, but it turns out she was right :) We found a great house, great school, kids love it, and I'm actually so thankful we didn't get the first one. Enjoy your weekend and best of luck.

  20. That man in the photograph is not going to belly flop, and neither will you. At the last moment, he will put his arms out in front of him, tuck his head a bit, and will dive beautifully in the water.
You guys will find a great place!
    :)

  31. soo annoying!!! But think of it this way, you could get in there and it's haunted or your neighbors are really drug dealers?! I know it's cliche but it happened for a reason. The most perfect house will come around, I know it.

  33. Worst feeling ever! I had a similar experience, except we were told an owner would definitely except our offer, only he didn't because he was too deep underwater - no one else knew. I feel your pain! But don't worry, everything happens for a reason...
